Knives
Welcome to our Medieval Swords Collection, featuring a carefully curated selection of hand-forged swords inspired by the legendary warriors, knights and crusaders of the Middle Ages. Every medieval sword here is made for collectors, history enthusiasts, reenactors, cosplay fans and medieval decor lovers, with options ranging from the one-handed arming sword to the mighty two-handed sword.
Hand-Forged Medieval Swords in High Carbon Steel
Our swords are hand-forged from high carbon steels such as 5160 and 6150, as well as Damascus steel. Carbon steel gives a blade the toughness and flex it needs, which is why it was the material of choice for the medieval swordsmith. Each blade is shaped, heat treated and finished by hand, then fitted with a traditional cross guard, grip and pommel.
Battle Ready Swords for Reenactors and Collectors
Many of the blades in this collection are battle ready swords: full tang, high carbon steel and properly heat treated, built to be handled, practiced with and enjoyed, not just hung on a wall. A battle-ready build is what serious reenactors and collectors look for, and it is what separates a working medieval sword from a thin decorative replica. Fantasy and display pieces in the collection are clearly marked as display pieces in their listings, so you always know what you are getting.
Explore Every Medieval Sword Type
- Arming sword: the classic one-handed knight’s sword of the High Middle Ages, quick and well balanced, usually paired with a shield. See our Type XIV knight sword and 6150 carbon steel arming sword.
- Medieval longsword: a longer grip for two hands and a blade built for cutting and thrusting. Our medieval longsword range includes the Type XVIIIa Gothic sword, the Damascus longsword with display stand and crusader-style blades.
- Bastard swords: also called hand-and-a-half swords, bastard swords sit between the arming sword and the longsword and can be used with one or two hands.
- Two-handed sword: the largest blade of the Renaissance battlefield, with a long grip for full two-handed control. Our hand-forged high carbon steel two-handed sword is a true statement piece.
- Viking sword: the broad, single-handed blade of the Norse warrior. Our Damascus Viking sword comes with a wooden scabbard.
- Broadsword: a popular name for wide-bladed swords such as the Viking sword and the arming sword. Every broadsword-style blade here pairs a wide fuller with a solid cross guard.
The Italian Longsword and Historical Fencing
Many collectors and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) students study the Italian longsword tradition of masters such as Fiore dei Liberi, alongside the German school. If you are drawn to the Italian longsword style, our medieval longswords offer the same classic cross guard, long grip and cut-and-thrust blade shape these manuscripts describe.
Sword With Scabbard Options
Most swords in this collection come with a fitted scabbard in leather or wood, so you get a complete sword with scabbard set that is ready to display, carry at events or store safely. A good scabbard protects the edge, keeps moisture away from the steel and completes the medieval look.
